Dr Eugene Tan will take on the role of chief executive of the National Gallery Singapore and Singapore Art Museum from April 1. He will also take Ms Chong’s other portfolio as head of the Visual Arts Cluster, which comprises the two museums and STPI – Creative Workshop & Gallery.
Dr Eugene Tan will take over as chief executive of the National Gallery Singapore and Singapore Art Museum (SAM) from April 1, when Ms Chong Siak Ching retires from the position. He will also take Ms Chong’s other portfolio as head of the Visual Art s Cluster, which comprises the two museums and STPI – Creative Workshop & Gallery . Dr Tan, 51, was appointed director of the gallery in 2013 and director of SAM in 2019.
Under his stewardship, the gallery has staged blockbuster exhibitions such as the 2017 Yayoi Kusama: Life Is The Heart Of A Rainbow and the ongoing Tropical: Stories From Southeast Asia And Latin America
