Double demerits will apply for speeding, seatbelt, drink and drunk driving, and mobile phone offences from 12.01am on Friday until 11.59pm on Monday.

Anyone caught using a mobile phone behind the wheel this long weekend will be slapped with a whopping 10 points. “We’ve sadly seen a number of examples recently of significant road-related trauma,” Acting Assistant Commissioner King said.
