The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) celebrated the achievements of 92 students from 30 schools at the Youth Excellence in Science (YES) Awards. These students excelled in international science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) competitions. The YES Awards, initiated by DOST-Science Education Institute (SEI), aims to inspire young Filipinos to pursue STEM and foster a culture of scientific inquiry.

THE Department of Science and Technology recognized the remarkable achievements of 92 students from 30 participating schools in international science, technology, engineering and mathematics competitions at the Youth Excellence in Science Awards held in Cagayan de Oro City on Nov. 29 to Dec. 1, 2024.Initiated by DOST -Science Education Institute , the YES Awards aims to inspire the youth to pursue excellence in STEM and develop a deeper appreciation for science.

'But a YES award is more than just a recognition of academic excellence; it is a symbol of our commitment to nurturing the next generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators who will save the future of our nation,' DOST Region 10 Director Romela Ratilla said.Beyond acknowledging academic excellence, the award promotes core scientific values such as integrity, honesty and collaboration.
