The Department of Health (DOH) has reported a significant increase in fireworks-related injuries (FWRI) over the past two days, emphasizing the need for safer alternatives during the holiday season.
The Department of Health ( DOH ) reported 17 fireworks-related injuries (FWRI) from December 22-23, 2024. This number is 113 percent higher compared to the same period last year with only 6 FWRI cases reported. The DOH said that children are mostly affected. The DOH will continue to push for Filipinos to be healthier and safer from fireworks-related injuries.
The DOH reminds the public to use safer alternatives to firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices by participating in community fireworks displays and by using other noise and light producing devices such as sound systems, light emitting devices, percussion instruments, pans, tambourines, and bells
