ILOILO CITY – The Department of Health has logged 50 dengue fatalities in Western Visayas from January to July this year.
Capiz has logged its first dengue death, the DOH-Region 6 Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit said in an August 11 report.All localities, except Guimaras, recorded dengue-related deaths.Antique has nine dengue-related fatalities while Bacolod City has eight.There were 8,647 dengue cases in the region as of July 31 – including 564 new cases in the last week – an increase of 543 percent compared to 1,345 in the same period last year.
