DOH launches helpline on substance abuse amid COVID19 pandemic
MANILA - The Department of Health on Thursday launched a hotline that would provide assistance to people suffering from substance abuse amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Substance abuse is a chronic medical condition that is treatable," added Leabres, program manager of DOH's dangerous drug abuse and treatment program. The DOH assured the public calls would be confidential in compliance with data protection law. Drug-related crimes will be dealt with law enforcement agencies.
Despite the threat of coronavirus infection, drug users will go outside and mingle with various people to feed their addiction, he said.
