The Department of Health ( DOH ) yesterday vehemently denied claims circulating on social media that people are going around conducting blood sugar tests using laboratory tools contaminated with the human immunodeficiency virus ( HIV ). In a social media post, the DOH said there is no truth to such claims and appealed to the public to denounce the proliferation of fake news . 'The Department of Health warns the public on a circulating message on social media making false claims,' said the DOH .

'The DOH urges the public not to share unverified claims that may cause unnecessary alarm,' it added. The Department said even the Philippine National Police (PNP) has discredited such claims. 'The PNP has debunked this message, confirming that it is a scare tactic with no factual basis,' said the DOH. The social media post claimed that members of the 'Faculty of Medicine' are visiting houses to conduct blood sugar tests, using needles supposedly contaminated with HIV. The DOH reiterated its advice for the public to source information only from legitimate sources and platforms
