A doctor and health research policy expert has made a harrowing prediction about the long-term effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, calling on an “honest investigation” to uncover exactly “what went wrong”.
A respected doctor and health research policy expert has made bold accusations and claims about how governments"failed" to handle the COVID-19 pandemic, stating that the negative effects will be felt years to come.
“We had a pandemic that killed many, many people, at the same time where the governments were vowing left and right that they would protect us from the virus. Dr Bhattacharya questioned the need for everyone to be forced into lockdowns, referencing data that showed young children and healthy adults were not at high risk of complications from COVID-19.
“It has consequence over their entire life, even short school closures, even bits of missing school can have long term consequences in children according to a tremendous body of social science literature that existed before the pandemic.” “In all that time, you were facing lockdowns, harms to children, harms to poor, working class people, violations to civil rights.”
He said this was because health officials knew that the best outcome would have been to protect the elderly and children, but instead “failed on both fronts” by forcing everyone into lockdown.
