Belleville Police are reminding residents not to leave their pets in their car after responding to two separate incidents on Saturday.
At around 12:15 p.m., police responded to a business on North Front Street regarding a dog being left in a vehicle.A caution was given to the owner. Later, at around 1:30 p.m., police received a second call of a dog being left in a vehicle. This time, the call came from a business at Bell Boulevard.“Temperatures inside a vehicle can quickly become hotter than the temperature outside even if windows are left slightly open,” Police said in a release.
“Unlike humans, pets have a limited capacity to deal with the heat, and they can quickly become overwhelmed, leading to heat stroke.”
