They disappeared from the low-security prison close to the New South Wales border yesterday afternoon. The correctional centre is on the Mount Lindsay Highway near Rathdowney, a rural area roughly 100 kilometres south-west of Brisbane. Police have identified the fugitives as Daniel Ian Badcock, 32, who is serving a one-year sentence for selling, possessing and/or using prohibited weapons/explosives; Osiah Pilton, 20, who is serving a one-year-and-nine-month sentence for enter dwelling with intent; and Antonio David Mene, serving three years for illegal use of a motor vehicle.
The operation to track the fugitives down is being coordinated by regional police, with the help of the investigative branch of Queensland Corrective Services.Police are warning members of the public not to approach the men and call triple-0 immediately.
