PETALING JAYA: A team of technicians has put their knowledge to good use by helping flood victims repair their soaked electrical appliances.
Equipped with the necessary spare parts and tools, the 16-man group went on their trips after the water receded, spending three days each in Chaah and Yong Peng of Johor last month to fix hundreds of washing machines and refrigerators – at no charge!
“What I saw was heart-breaking and I felt compelled to do something for the victims,” said the 38-year-old, who runs a refrigeration and air conditioning services company in Skudai. With a budget of about RM20,000 to purchase spare parts, meals and other expenses, the team arrived in Chaah on March 10.
“The people kept coming even though we had run out of spare parts. I was upset because I had to turn them down,” said Mohd Hairul.
