The Prime Minister has described the 'devastating impact' while visiting flood affected communities in Western Australia's Kimberley region, as he announced 'significant support' for residents.

Mr Albanese was joined on his visit by Senator Pat Dodson and Emergency Management Minister Murray Watt, along with Premier Mark McGowan and Western Australia's Emergency Services Minister Stephen Dawson. One of the the issues that Senator Dodson was raising with me is a number of the smaller communities, particularly Indigenous communities, located around Fitzroy Crossing, and the fact that for many of those, they've been isolated and cut off from each other," he said.

Mr Albanese said Australia was seeing"far too much" flood devastation, pointing to visits he had undertaken to survey damage in five states since becoming Prime Minister in late May last year. "Looking at these events, talking about a one-in-one-hundred year event over and over again. Well, they're happening more regularly."
