KUALA LUMPUR: Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that more buses, depot employees and a new paperless bus ticket system has been deployed to accommodate this year’s influx of balik kampung travellers.
“In 2022, only 98 additional buses were approved by the Land Public Transport Agency ahead of Raya.
“But this year, more than double the number has been approved as we expect the number of passengers this year to be much higher as we are well within the endemic phase of the pandemic,” he said after a work visit to Terminal Bersepadu Selatan yesterday. Loke assured travellers that the approved buses had been fully inspected for safety by Puspakom and were equipped with GPS that would be monitored to ensure the buses followed their routes. He said TBS had deployed more ticket counters and staffers at departure and arrival terminals to ensure smoother travel experiences for people.
Loke also announced that TBS had implemented a new online paperless ticket system by integrating three online travel agents into its systems to reduce congestion at ticket counters.“GoHub, BusOnlineTicket and Redbus online ticketing systems have been integrated into TBS’ system, making it no longer necessary to print boarding passes at TBS’ counters anymore.
“With this, it is now possible for passengers to directly head for their departure terminal to board their buses at TBS, saving both passenger time and reducing congestion at TBS,” he said.
