The Department of Education (DepEd) requested private financial institutions and GSIS for a three-month moratorium on loans for teaching and non-teaching personnel affected by recent tropical storms . Secretary Sonny Angara's request covers December 2024 and January to March 2025 payments, including charges, costs, and interests, for those residing or working in declared calamity areas since September 2024.
The DepEd also coordinated with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas to ensure these loans are not classified as non-performing during the moratorium period
