The Department of Education (DepEd) and the Land Registration Authority (LRA) have joined forces to accelerate the construction of school buildings and facilities by addressing issues related to untitled properties.
The Department of Education (DepEd) and the Land Registration Authority (LRA) have formalized a partnership to expedite the construction of school buildings and facilities. The collaboration seeks to resolve long-standing issues with untitled properties, a common obstacle in infrastructure projects. \The partnership, spearheaded by DepEd Secretary Angara and LRA Administrator Gerardo Panga Sirios, focuses on converting manually issued land titles held by DepEd into electronic titles.
This aims to address the persistent challenge of classroom shortages. By securing land titles, DepEd hopes to eliminate bureaucratic delays, ensuring schools can be built on legally owned properties. Angara highlighted the significance of legal land ownership for school construction, stating, 'We can see that the lack of title signifies a lack of security or a secured future because this delays the construction of new classrooms.' \'This day is important and historic, especially for the DepEd. The land or title of a school is the heart of the community because not only do children study there, but the barangay council and the community also gather there.' \ LRA Administrator Sirios added, 'This event will help not only the Department of Education in securing its assets but also securing the future of our youth because with these assets, this is where schools will be located, and with the schools, we can provide quality education to our youth.
