One of the Sunshine State’s top obstetricians criticises the health department’s handling of a failed maternity ward in central Queensland.
National Association of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists President Dr Gino Pecoraro says doctors have been “warning” the health department of the “imminent collapse” of maternity services for two years.
Mothers-to-be need to travel over an hour to give birth naturally; otherwise, they have to opt-in for a planned C-section.
