Province\u0027s nurses at the top of the pay scale now have the highest wages in the country. Now it’s time to end the years of complaints

The nurses, it should be noted, wanted far more. They proposed a 12-per-cent increase in the first year of the new deal, followed by six per cent in the second. In addition, they wanted to eliminate the first two steps of the salary grid so new nurses would start at a higher rate, and were also demanding long-service entitlements and higher overtime pay.

Those are not insignificant financial incentives. If they didn’t work, why would the general wage increase?
