It is understood that rental terms with the landlord, Intu, is the reason for the closure for three of its stores, at Milton Keynes, Watford and the Metrocentre."As a result these stores will not be re-opening in line with the rest of the chain next week.
"We greatly regret the effect on our colleagues, who have served our customers with commitment and dedication."Steven Cook, Managing Director, Debenhams, said: "Longer-term, there will be plenty of issues to be resolved, notably around unsustainable rates bills.”It was forced to shut 50 stores permanently in 2019 after falling into administration.
