Just hours after it was revealed that action star Cedric Jones had died, it was revealed Hollywood has lost another of its action heroes. Shaft! star Richard Roundtree has died at the age of 81 from pancreatic cancer, Deadline has reported.
Richard Roundtree on the impact of Shaft. The American actor broke new ground playing detective John Shaft in the hugely popular Shaft franchise from the early 1970s onwards. In a statement released by his agency and long-term manager Patrick McMinn described Roundtree as a “trailblazing” artist. “Artists & Representatives Agency mourns the loss of our friend and client Richard Roundtree,” the agency said.
