I mean, not until the end of next week, but that’s still next week!
And that’s where we are now. Again. Time is up to its old tricks. It feels like just a few days ago, the festival was weeks away. And maybe it was. I’ve lost track. But now, today, it starts next week. And we here in the Celtic Colours office, like so many here at home and around the world, can’t wait!While more than half of the concerts are sold out at this point, there are still plenty of opportunities available to see some outstanding visiting artists and a few from closer to home.
One group I am personally looking forward to seeing is a new four-piece from Prince Edward Island called 6 Hearts. Featuring members from Vishten and The East Pointers — two of the most innovative, interesting, and beloved trad bands to come out of the East Coast in recent years — 6 Hearts will be on stage in Inverness on Oct. 13 for the Heart and Soul concert. That concert will also showcase Mary Frances Leahy, the eldest daughter of Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy.
A leading force in Québec's Francophone folk movement, Le Vent du Nord has also found a deep fan base among local audiences since first performing at the Celtic Colours in 2004. This year will be their fifth time appearing at the festival. Tickets are still available for you to join in the joie de vivre on Oct. 6 at The Universal Language, Oct. 7 at Pjila'si: A Wagnatcook Welcome, and Oct. 8 at Craic'n Cabaret.
