– At least P100 million had been allocated from city funds this year to start the High Priority Bus System , which seeks to address traffic congestion and pollution from vehicle emissions, Mayor Sara Duterte said.“For this year, nag budget ta og P100 million from the funds of the city government to start the bus system,” Duterte said. She said the city government wants to get the “latest modern technology in the bus system” similar to the bus system implemented in more advanced countries.
The mayor said the city plans to train the displaced jeepney drivers as bus drivers and encourage jeepney operators to invest in the buses that will be utilized in the new transport system. “Expensive sya and dili kaayo sya magdala og profit sa jeepney driver or sa operator man because small man sya ang jeep so gamay lang ang yang ma-haul dako kaayo syag carbon footprint sa environment ,” she said.
“We are trying to make the jeepney sector understand that they will make more money and it will be better for our environment, better for our health, especially to the drivers kung mag bus system ta ,” she said.
