The Davao City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) has finished distributing food packs to districts with Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities as part of a capability-building program.

The Davao City Social Welfare and Development Office ( CSWDO ) has completed the distribution of food packs to districts with Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities as part of its capability-building initiatives. Acting CSWDO Administrative Officer Marie Botona stated on Monday, December 23, 2024, that all food packs for IPs were delivered on December 14, following the start of distribution on December 1, 2024.

Botona explained that the food packs were provided to compensate IPs for the days they did not work and their travel expenses during the capability-building training. The CSWDO conducted the training to inform IP communities about the latest programs, services, and laws implemented by the office. As a continuous service, the CSWDO monitors streets and assists IPs in returning to their communities if they are found wandering. The city government collaborates with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for IPs who are not from Davao City and are observed begging on the streets. The CSWDO actively enforces the anti-mendicancy campaign to ensure the safety of IPs and other groups seeking alms during the holidays
