In the Vancouver election campaign\u0027s last week, a new poll shows many voters are dissatisfied, and many undecided on who they will support.
While the new polling results show significant desire for change and a low approval rating for Vancouver Mayor Kennedy Stewart, 39 per cent of likely voters were undecided. One big question now is how the “vote-for-change” crowd’s support will spread around the mayor’s top opponents. Another is how well each candidate, including the mayor, can make sure their supporters actually get out and vote.Start your day with a roundup of B.C.
Steve Mossop, a Vancouver-based executive vice-president at Leger, the national research and polling firm behind the survey, said he isn’t predicting at this point who will win this weekend. Sim is leading in the point-in-time captured by the poll, Mossop said, “but it’s a tenuous lead when you have 40 per cent undecided.”
Five of Vancouver’s mayoral candidates : Fred Harding , Colleen Hardwick , Mark Marissen , Ken Sim , Kennedy Stewart .The top issue identified by Vancouver respondents in the Leger poll was housing affordability, 30 per cent choosing it as the most important issue, while 17 per cent selected homelessness, poverty and mental health; 11 per cent chose property taxes and spending; and nine per cent placed policing, public safety and crime atop their list.
