The Philippine Chamber of Agriculture and Food, Inc. on Monday asked the Department of Agriculture to probe the alleged manipulation in the price of local garlic which is being sold for P400 per kilo in Metro Manila markets.'In the trading post in Nueva Ecija yesterday, garlic ranged between P65 and P270 per kilo, that is why I am surprised that it costs P400 per kilo here in the NCR .

The price of onions skyrocketed to P720 per kilo in December 2022 amid tight supply.'We import 93 percent of our garlic requirement. We have a big problem with the supply. The DA should monitor the activities of traders as they have the tendency to hoard and manipulate the supply just to increase their profit,' Fausto said.
