Scammers are also changing tactics. While the phone and email were the main ways in which people over 55 were targeted last year, there’s a sharp increase in the number of people losing money via social media. Another client took on a gardener who was charging ridiculous rates to keep a small outside area tidy.Rather, keep scam awareness bubbling away in the background through more general conversations.“It would be conversational, like, ‘Did you see that thing on the news last night about this scammer?’ or ’I heard this story from this person at work and here’s what happened ...”
