The Greater Sudbury Cubs are still ahead in their best-of-seven, first-round playoff series against the Espanola Paper Kings despite falling 3-1 to their rivals on Sunday.
In the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey Association semi-final, the Cubs lead 2-1. Game 4 is scheduled for tonight at the Gerry McCrory Countryside Complex. Puck drops at a 7:30 p.m. The Kings drew first blood in ths one, with Jonathan Lush sent in all alone on a breakaway, beating Cubs goalkeeper Noah Metivier over the blocker at 2:27 to make it 1-0 Espanola.“Action in the second stanza saw the home side connect while down a skater once more as they pushed a play ahead off a draw in their own zone and saw Lucas Signoretti jam in the rebound off his own chance, prior to the midway point of the proceedings,” a game report on the match states.
