Crystal Serenity has had its first outing as part of the Abercrombie & Kent stable. The ship’s major refit means fewer guests and enhanced appeal.
The fire was a cruising first for me. The captain’s announcement informing us that a small blaze had been put out in the engine room came as I was falling asleep in my cabin aboard Crystal Serenity, following dinner in Nobu and two evening shows.
Crystal Serenity is back cruising after a major refurbishment. It’s previous owners, Crystal Cruises, went into liquidation in 2022. The biggest visual change is in the suites: Two entire decks were stripped back to metal during the $270 million refurbishment of both ships. More of the popular spacious Sapphire Veranda suites were created, even though it cut Serenity’s passenger capacity from 980 to 740.Given Serenity was built in 2003, it was time for a major refresh.
