Gordon Gravelle appeared in a Thunder Bay courtroom on Thursday on charges of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, careless transportation of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm without a license, possession of a firearm with knowledge its possession is unauthorized, unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, and possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm with ammunition.

The charges were the result of an investigation by the Thunder Bay Police Service that began with a vehicle check the afternoon of Jan. 24, 2022 in the Gordon and James Street area. The vehicle was connected to an ongoing investigation involving human trafficking and it was stopped at 4 p.m. on the Harbour Expressway near Balmoral Street.

Police determined one of the individuals in the car was connected to an ongoing investigation involving human trafficking and another individual was under criminal investigation from an incident in the Greater Toronto Area. As a result of the traffic stop, three southern Ontario men were arrested and charged with numerous firearm, drug, and human trafficking offences. All the charges against Gravelle were withdrawn at the request of the Crown.
