An investigation has been launched into a police response and the circumstances of a woman’s death following a domestic violence incident in northern NSW where a man was arrested.
A “critical incident investigation” has been declared and a man arrested following a woman's death in a domestic violence incident in northern NSW.
Northern Region Assistant Commissioner Peter McKenna told media on Saturday afternoon that upon entering, police attached to Richmond Police District found a woman unconscious with “obvious” injuries to her head.A 31-year-old man, believed to have been known to the woman, was arrested at the scene and taken to Lismore Police Station where he has been assisting police with inquiries.Assistant Commissioner Peter McKenna said he is currently being charged with one count of murder.
The probe will include all aspects of the response from police, including the delay in the timing of the police’s response. He said the independent review will seek to discover what the reason for the delay was and whether it was justified.
