A man has died after the electric scooter he was riding crashed with a ute around midday on Appletree Road, outside West Wallsend High School near Newcastle.
Police said the accident happened at around 12:15pm on Appletree Road, outside West Wallsend High School.
Officers from the Lake Macquarie Police District rushed to the scene, alongside NSW Ambulance paramedics. On arrival police said they found a man, believed to be aged in his 30s, had fallen off an e-scooter.The crash site remains a crime scene with tents set up in the rain, protecting evidence.The male driver of a utility was taken to John Hunter Hospital for mandatory testing.A police crackdown on e-scooters this week showed riders were flagrantly disregarding road rules.
