The first clues to Ed’s troubled nature came on May 16, 1944, when a fire broke out on the farm. He and his brother went to put it out but when officials arrived, the lanky farmer had no idea where his brother was. In addition, authorities discovered: Four noses, human bones, nine masks made out of human skin, bowls made from skills, 10 female heads with the tops sawed off, human skin covering seats and the head of bartender Mary Hogan, who vanished in 1954. There were also nine vulvas in a shoe box and a belt made from female nipples.
