AS THE Misa de Gallo begins on Monday, December 16, 2024, the Cebu Police Provincial Office is getting ready to implement strict security measures in 60 Cebu churches. To protect the safety of massgoers, CPPO Chief Police Colonel Percival Zorilla will station more uniformed and plainclothes policemen in churches, according to information officer Captain Eden Baguio. Police assistance desks will also be installed in major churches to help the people who may have concerns or problems.
Additionally, the police officers will help the force multipliers man traffic outside the churches when necessary. According to Captain Baguio, they are also thinking about sending additional police officers to the municipalities of Liloan and Consolacion, as well as the city of Talisay, where there are multiple churches. Meanwhile, the CPPO has not yet received any threats from criminal elements during the holiday season.
