Since Atletico launched in the midst of the pandemic in 2020, there have been lessons learned along the way. The ever-enthusiastic Hunt is bullish on the future, insisting that Atletico can firmly establish itself as an instrumental part of the sports scene in Ottawa.
Hunt has a special fondness for the spirit of the most passionate fans, who bring life and noise to TD Place during games.Tissot, who has played pro in Montreal, Washington and San Francisco, has had a previous taste of pro soccer success in Ottawa with the Fury. “We’re attached to such a successful club in Atletico Madrid and we use the facilities over there to start the season. You feel an attachment to the name,” he said.“When I was with the Fury, we were playing American teams mostly, in some cities people here didn’t know and there were parts of the U.S. I didn’t really know, either,” he said.
