PUTRAJAYA: The Court of Appeal today allowed the temporary release of Rosmah Mansor’s passport for her to be in Singapore to meet her daughter, Nooryana Najwa Najib and a grandson who is unwell.

A three-member bench chaired by Justice Kamaludin Said made the order after hearing submissions from Rosmah’s lawyer, Jagjit Singh. Deputy public prosecutor Poh Yih Tinn did not object to the application.Kamaludin said the passport will be released today for Rosmah to be in Singapore between March 23 and May 6. “In view of there being no objection from the prosecution, this application is unanimously allowed,” said Kamaludin, who sat with Justices Hadhariah Syed Ismail and Azman Abdullah.

Trial judge Zaini Mazlan sentenced her to 10-year jail terms on all three charges, but ordered that they run concurrently. The High Court said Rosmah will have to serve another 10 years in prison after she completes her initial 10-year sentence if she fails to pay the RM970 million fine. Rosmah is out on RM1 million bail pending the hearing of her appeal, scheduled for July 11. Separately, she is standing trial on 12 money laundering charges involving RM7.
