De-Palma said when she first moved to the area about eight years ago, she got a letter from the community association explaining how to navigate the roundabout. “And then I read it and went, ‘What? What do you mean you exit from the left lane — the inside lane — and you’re crossing over traffic that could be ongoing? Do they know to stop?’ ”Part of what makes it confusing, she says, is the inconsistency of the rules. According to instructions from the city, drivers entering from Inverness Gate to the inside lane must stay in that lane until they reach McKenzie Towne Boulevard.
