NSW Police have urged drivers returning home this long weekend to be extra vigilant on the roads after another three people died on Sunday, taking the state's toll to eight since Friday.
Another three people in the state were killed in a trio of separate crashes in less than 24 hours on Sunday, taking the death toll from the four-day holiday period to eight.
Elsewhere, a Nissan X-trail and Toyota Kluger collided on Kings Highway at Bungendore, roughly 35 minutes from Canberra, at about 3:20pm.The 71-year-old motorist of the Kluger and his 66-year-old wife were trapped in their car briefly before they were helped out by responding emergency services. Commander of Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, Acting Assistant Commissioner Trent King said too many lives had been tragically lost this weekend.
