Cops investigating incident of drone flown into Johor palace

JOHOR BARU: Police are investigating a trespassing incident involving a drone that was flown inside the Johor palace last week.

Johor police chief Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said stern action would be taken against those who violated the rules and regulations on flying drones."We received a report on the incident and deployed the Drone Unit under the Royal Malaysian Police Air Operations Force to investigate the matter," he said.

He said this when met by reporters after the Johor police Hari Raya open house at the state police headquarters, here on Thursday .Sultan Ibrahim was accompanied by his sons, Tunku Panglima Johor Tunku Abdul Rahman Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, and Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Ibni Sultan Ibrahim. Comm Kamarul Zaman added that under the regulations, drones were not allowed to be flown in sensitive zones or no-fly zones such as police headquarters, military camps, hospitals, and even royal palaces.

"Drones can only be flown under 500m from the ground and outside the no-fly-zone, so anything beyond this is considered a violation," he added. Also present at the event were Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, Johor State Secretary Tan Sri Azmi Rohani, and Johor exco members.
