Wood applied in 2022, but was denied. Many have regarded Wood, a then-McDonald’s employee, as the group’s ringleader as the robbery was his idea. But others, including retired journalist Phonse Jessome who wrote a book on the murders,MacNeil was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and forcible confinement and robbery, with no chance of parole for 25 years.
