MANILA, Philippines – New online sellers and livestreamers can get a three-month break from commission fees under a new package launched by Converge ICT Solutions, the Department of Trade and Industry , and TikTok Shop. Called SellerPlus, the package is aimed at micro, small, and medium enterprises, home-based businesses, and creators looking to build their businesses through livestream and e-commerce. It combines a 200 Mbps Converge fiber connection with TikTok Shop tools and other services.
Among its more useful features for sellers just starting out is 0% commission fees for their first 90 days on TikTok Shop, potentially allowing newly onboarded merchants to keep more of their sales while they establish an audience and test their products online. The package also gives merchants access to vouchers and incentives through a gamified goal system called “seller missions,” promises dedicated customer service support, and traffic and voucher support through TikTok Shop’s monthlyConverge said the 200 Mbps fiber connection is intended to support uninterrupted livestreaming, highlighting that disruptions with poor connections can lead to lost sales.
The package also includes personal accident insurance from AXA. SellerPlus is also tied to the DTI’s AI and Scale-Up Center in Makati, where entrepreneurs can access co-working facilities, training spaces, digital skills workshops, and demonstrations of tools such as content generators, customer-service bots, and inventory software. SellerPlus also includes a mentorship component through BizFriend PH, a Facebook community where local merchants can exchange experiences, collaborate, and receive business advice.
The program’s BizPro Rockstar Mentorship Program brings in experts in areas such as partnership law, digital marketing, tax compliance, business communication, and business growth. The initiative comes as more small businesses use social commerce and livestreaming as lower-cost ways to reach customers. For newer sellers in particular, temporarily removing commission fees — alongside internet access, promotional support, and training — could reduce some of the upfront costs of experimenting with online selling.
