IPOH: A police constable has been arrested for the attempted rape of a teenager at a petrol station along Jalan Tun Abdul Razak here.
Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the 23-year-old suspect, who is stationed in Batu Gajah, was arrested on Sunday after the 19-year-old girl lodged a police report on Saturday ."A remand order has been obtained and the man will be remanded until June 22 to facilitate investigations," he said in a statement.Comm Mohd Yusri said the police force would not compromise on any matters concerning the integrity and behaviour of its personnel.
"The investigation paper is being completed and will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor, with a recommendation to press charges. "We would like to advise the public not to speculate on the case so that the investigation is not jeopardised," he added.
