The power supply in Luzon and the Visayas was affected in May due to problems encountered by power plants in the two regions. NGCP hoisted red and yellow alerts over the Luzon and Visayas grids in certain times of day, for at least three days starting on May 13, 2026, due to unstable power supply. NGCP said a red alert status is issued when power supply is insufficient to meet consumer demand and the transmission grid’s regulating requirement.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirement.
