MANILA - The Senate on Monday ratified a bicameral conference committee report seeking to establish the National Academy of Sports where young Filipino athletes will be educated using a "special curriculum on sports."
"This will give our own athletes and aspiring world champions the education, training, and opportunity to bring home the gold, honor and pride to our country," Gatchalian said. "With this measure, we will be able to catch up with the rest of the world in terms of sports development," Senate Committee on Sports chair Christopher "Bong" Go said.
Under the proposal, the Philippine High School for Sports will be established in the New Clark City in Capas, Tarlac where the students "shall have access to existing sports facilities" in the area previously used as venues for the 30th Southeast Asian Games.
