Confirmands told they now “belong to Christ”

On February 4 2023, Kuching Archbishop Simon Poh administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to 65 youth confirmands and 26 Sunday School students of St Joseph’s Parish. Concelebrating the Mass was Fr Galvin Ngumbang.

The confirmands were reminded that when they are signed with the Oil of Chrism, they now belong to Christ and are confirmed members of the Roman Catholic Church. Upon receiving the sacrament, all confirmands have been “sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit” and are strengthened for service to the Body of Christ, the Church.

They were also reminded that the Holy Spirit that came down upon the apostles on Pentecost is the same Holy Spirit who is with us today and empowering us to be his hands, feet and voice in the world.
