A man named Lim Chia Lin, 31, from Sarawak, has been charged and sentenced at the Sessions Court yesterday morning for causing the deaths of his pet cats by neglecting them.
He was charged under Section 29 of the Animal Welfare Act 2015 and sentenced to two years’ imprisonment and an RM50,000 fine, in default another year in jail. Deputy public prosecutor Wan Ahmad Hakimi Wan Ahmad Jaafar suggested the court order a custodial sentence as a warning to society not to neglect their pets.
