GB News host Nigel Farage says the arrival of thousands of migrants on the Italian island of Lampedusa is a “literal invasion”. Lampedusa has recently become the brunt of crossing from Tunisia and is not the main migrant smuggling base, replacing Libya. Nearly 126,000 migrants have been reported to have arrived in Italy this year, almost doubling the figure in 2022. “Judging by what’s happened at the weekend, that may be just the start – this will be, if it continues, the death of the European Union politically,” Ms Farage told Sky News host Paul Murray. “I promise you, we are heading into complete disaster here.”
