The planning advisory committee hearing on Sept. 26 saw the council chamber seats nearly full, with residents waiting in anticipation of what would come of the community plan which many have had significant issues with. During the hearing, people were permitted to speak to the committee, made up of both citizens representatives and councillors.
“These ones that are on Arlington Place, the people have put a lot of care into those properties," Thomas said."They’re good-looking homes, and I think they should be either in the downtown neighbourhood or the general residence zone, or something. I don’t think they belong in the urban corridor.” “They still have to make a profit, so that money has to come from somewhere, so it’s going to end up on the bottom line for the person who’s renting or buying a property,” he said.
While auto body shops aren’t permitted, secondary commercial use based out of the home is permitted, such as small engine repair.
