SEC Commissioner Mark Uyeda has taken a subtle swipe at his agency, saying the SEC’s current approach to some filings and disclosures doesn’t account for crypto’s unique characteristics.
Tucked away in a footnote as part of a recent statement, the SEC Commissioner said his agency’s current approach to crypto does not aid capital formation or protect investors.
In footnote 3, Udeya called for the Form S-1 filings — used by firms when going public or registering new securities — to be updated to better reflect the unique nature of digital assets and slammed the agency’s current approach to crypto filings as “problematic.”
