The Comelec and NBI collaborate to ensure cybersecurity and prevent election-related offenses in the upcoming 2025 elections.

Commission on Elections ( Comelec ) chairperson George Erwin Garcia and National Bureau of Investigation ( NBI ) Director Jaime Santiago signed a memorandum of agreement on December 20, 2024, to ensure cybersecurity measures are in place for the 2025 national and local elections. The agreement was signed at the NBI head office in Pasay City. 'The NBI will always serve the Filipino people, assuring that there will be an honest and peaceful election.

That has always been our mandate, to ensure peace, especially during the election season,' said Santiago. 'The signing of this Memorandum of Agreement is a good opportunity for both agencies to collaborate with each other,' he added. Santiago noted that while no system is completely secure, proactive steps will be implemented to safeguard the electoral process. In addition to cybersecurity, the NBI will address other election-related offenses, including vote-buying
