A Nationals Senator used a coal stunt during his appearance on Sky News Australia to criticise Treasurer Jim Chalmers anticipated budget surplus, as he issued a challenge to Labor ahead of its release.
Treasurer Jim Chalmers is set to forecast the first surplus since 2007 when he delivers the budget on Tuesday night in the House of Representatives.
Holding a lump of coal, the Senator made sure to highlight the temporary nature of the surplus during his appearance on Sky News Australia on Tuesday morning. “If this was a result of government decisions they would’ve been able to produce and predict surpluses for years ahead.” “Don’t be afraid, don’t be scared, it won’t hurt you. It’s coal,” he said before passing it around to his other colleagues.
