A partnership between Réseau ACCESS Network and Fierté Sudbury Pride, the Classroom Closet Conference will bring 2S-LGBTQ+ high school students, teachers and allies together for information, support and advocacy
On hiatus since the beginning of the pandemic, the Classroom Closet conference is back and happening Feb. 17 at Place des arts. The event will run from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
“Fierté Sudbury Pride is proud to partner with Réseau Access Network to create opportunities for community members to come together, celebrate, and learn how to support and advocate for the 2S-LGBTQ+ people in their lives,” said Kyelle Byne, Sponsorship Lead of Fierté Sudbury Pride. “Events like Classroom Closet are essential to our vision of championing a strong, vibrant, and intersectional community of 2S-LGBTQ+ people and allies that exists openly and safely in Greater Sudbury.
“Giving 2S-LGBTQ+ youth and adults accurate information empowers them to make informed decisions when it come to their wellbeing, and being able to advocate for themselves and others,” said Heidi Eisenhauer, executive director of Réseau ACCESS Network. “We really hope that Classroom Closet will support 2S-LGBTQ+ youth in the north and help them become thoughtful, informed, and caring adults.”
